Snarky Cynicism

Ezra, noting the 40 month period of disastrous approval ratings George W. Bush has racked up, writes:

It’s something of a crisis for our political system that the president has now spent over three years hated and mistrusted by the majority of the country, and yet has never felt the need to take steps to restore his legitimacy. Something is wrong.

To which I reply, of course he hasn’t felt the need to do anything! Uber-elitest, super-entitled, I-was-born-with-a-silver-spoon-in-my-mouth-and-a-daddy-to-make-sure-I-get-whatever-I-want types like George W. Bush never feel the need to seek approval from a group as common as the American public! That’s clearly unnecessary and a shockingly offensive thing to suggest! I mean, the horror of actually serving the interests of the electorate! It’s just too distasteful to even contemplate!

  1. While I agree with your basic point, I do think it’s up to our leaders to do what’s right and not necessarily what’s popular.
Having said that, by all counts Bush is batting 0-2.
